Wellington Girls' College is an inner-city college five minutes walk from Wellington Railway Station and bus terminal. The Wilton-Wadestown bus goes past the college, and there will be limited parking in the college grounds. The multi-storied classroom blocks are wheelchair-friendly with lifts in the tower block, and walkways between the two multi-story blocks. The school may be inner city but there is plenty of open spaces to sit and enjoy the autumn sun. We are hoping to have an overnight storage area for sewing machines, however as there will be limited space, we suggest you hire a Bernina machine. We have selected a venue where all classes will be located on the one site plus a large area for the merchants' mall. Start saving now so you will be able to spend lots of time shopping! Wellington Girls' College is set in a large open area and has magnificent harbour views from the tower block, but you will not have time to enjoy this as you will be so engrossed in your classes! The Thorndon area around the college is very interesting. It has many of the original homes from Wellington's early settlers, Cathedrals, Parliament Buildings, the National Library, National Archives, Embassies and specialty shops. A New World Supermarket, Post Shop and banks are also close by and you can easily walk down to the waterfront or Lambton Quay - about a 5-10 minute stroll. A number of hotels are within walking distance of the college, and you could choose to walk to and from the college on a beautiful Wellington autumn morning and evening.
