FABRIC:

  • Bring a generous selection of fabrics, fat quarters and some half-yard pieces, in different values (lights, mediums and darks) and in a variety of scales (small, medium and large prints).  Some of your fabrics may be l/4 yard pieces, but you will also need some half-yard pieces.  All types of fabrics will work:  plaids, stripes, polka dots, etc.  You will also need some solid or hand dyed (background type) fabrics.

  • Also bring a half yard of light and a half yard of dark fabric that you will cut up and combine.  This is only for experimentation and can be a solid black and a solid white.
  • My philosophy is this:  If you use fabrics you really love, even when you are experimenting, the commitment level is higher, and you have a better chance of coming up with something you would like to continue working on and making into a finished quilt.  I'm hoping that you will go home with the beginnings of a quilt that you will want to develop into a finished piece.
