Text: Thinking Outside the Block, by Sandi Cummings.
FABRIC:
At least twenty 1/8 yard and 1/4 yard or larger pieces of cotton
fabric, including lights, mediums and darks, and small, medium and
large prints. All types of fabrics will work, including plaids,
stripes, polka dots, etc. If you're debating about bringing a
certain piece of fabric, bring it. If you want a visually very
strong piece, also include some black and white combinations.
Please include 1/8 yard solid black fabric.
We will
discuss fabric selection in class, but it's nice to have a generous
selection to choose from. Although they obviously have to all
work in the same quilt, don't over match. Throw a few "odd
balls" into the mix.
My
philosophy is this: If you use fabrics you really love, even
when you are experimenting, the commitment level is higher, and you
have a better chance of coming up with something you would like to
continue working on and making into a finished quilt. I'm
hoping that you will go home with the beginnings of a quilt that you
will want to develop into a finished piece.
