Fabrics and Supplies:

  • 11" square of fabric for background

  • Assorted 4" to 6" scraps of fabric for large and small flowers.  NOTE: You may wish to being a wide selection of your favorite "flower" colors and decide how you wish to blend them together during class.
  • 6" square of fabric for back of large flower. NOTE: If you wish to use silk for this, interface the wrong side with lightweight tricot fusible interfacing, OR bring an extra layer of background fabric to class.
  • 4" square of fabric back of for small flower. NOTE: If you wish to use silk for this, interface the wrong side with lightweight tricot fusible interfacing, OR bring an extra layer of background fabric to class.
  • 9" square of fabric for stem and upper-leaf
  • 6" square of fabric for under-leaf. NOTE: If you wish to use silk for this, interface the wrong side with lightweight tricot fusible interfacing, OR bring an extra layer of background fabric to class.
  • Three-dimensional stamens. NOTE: These are available in wedding sections of many craft stores.

Tools and Supplies:

  • Rotary cutting equipment (if cutting background square in class)

  • Freezer paper
  • Permanent pen for marking templates
  • Fabric-marking pen or pencil
  • Straight pins
  • Silk thread in neutral colors (or threads to match appliqué shapes)
  • Sharp-to-the-tip embroidery scissors 
  • Beeswax 
  • Needle threader (if desired)
